Livingstone comes on for Rabada as PBKS opts to bowl first against RCB

Dharamsala: Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Thursday opted to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 58 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the HPCA Stadium.

PBKS stand-in skipper Sam Curran said there might be something in the wicket for the bowlers.

“Looks like they have watered the wicket a bit, maybe do something early, so put pressure on RCB. Chasing is not a big factor, we lost the last match chasing. I just want new ball wickets. Hopefully it will pinch It.” Curran said at the toss.

PBKS have included Liam Livingstone in place of Kagiso Rabada in the only substitution in their playing XI. Vidhwath Kaverappa, a bowler from Karnataka, will make his debut for Punjab.

“A few new guys today will hopefully bring us together. Better to lose close games than big defeats. A few changes: Livingstone comes in for Rabada. He strengthens our batting. And we haven’t decided yet on our impact,” Curran said.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis thought he would have done the same in winning the toss. They brought in Glenn Maxwell for Lockie Ferguson.

“Would have done the same. It’s been a great turnaround for us, we want to do what we want to do. The playing style has shown our skills. There’s no point in focusing on the table. One change: Maxwell out for Lockie Ferguson.” he said.
