Carlos Alcaraz begins a fitness bid ahead of Roland Garros

Carlos Alcaraz faces a race against time to be fit and ready for Roland Garros after being forced to withdraw from this week’s Rome Open due to his forearm injury, which has been a thorn in the Spaniard’s side for much of the past month .

Since winning Indian Wells, he has only played in Miami and Madrid, missing Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome all. With a crucial moment in the season coming for him, this does not bode well for Roland Garros. It puts players like Novak Djokovic in the teeth after Sinner and Alcaraz were heavily praised.

But both are now out injured and face a fitness bid. Although seemingly more Sinner than Alcaraz, the Spaniard is already back on clay with the message that he will be ‘back as soon as possible’ as the weeks draw closer. Fortunately for both of them, they have a buffer of a few weeks, missing the two weeks of Rome and the week after. So they have a good period to earn back. Keep an eye on this page for more news about Alcaraz.
