Five Penn State women’s lacrosse players named to USA Lacrosse All-American teams

Five Penn State women’s lacrosse players earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors, the organization said announced Thursday morning. All five players were also recent named to All-Big Ten teams.

Kristin O’Neill was named to an All-American Team for the second year in a row, making the second team this season. O’Neill leads the Nittany Lions this season with 52 points on 45 goals and seven assists. She ranks third in America with an average of 1.28 free position goals per game.

Kayla Abernathy, Gretchen Gilmore, Sammy Dupcak and Ellie Hollin were all named as All-American honorable mentions. Abernathy earned her first All-American honors after ranking first on the team with 73 draw controls.

Gilmore was named an honorable mention for the second consecutive season, despite scoring a career-high 40 goals and 10 assists this season. Dupcak, a senior defenseman, has grabbed 19 ground balls and forced 17 turnovers this season. Hollin, also on defense, has grabbed 20 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers on the year.

No. No. 15 Penn State returns to face No. 19 James Madison on Friday, May 10 at 3 p.m. in College Park, Maryland, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
