Mike Scanlon leaves De La Salle for a top assistant job at St. Paul’s – Crescent City Sports

De La Salle head baseball coach Mike Scanlon is leaving De La Salle to become Associate Head Coach at St. Paul’s under new Wolves head coach Kristian Gibbe.

Scanlon was head coach at De La Salle for five seasons. Scanlon previously served as the Cavaliers’ junior varsity head coach in 2016-17.

Under Scanlon, De La Salle reached the Division II quarterfinals in 2022 and the Select Division II quarterfinals in 2023. De La Salle lost to St. Thomas More in the regional round of the Select Division II playoffs this season.

Scanlon, who played at Mandeville, will be close to home in St. Paul’s as a North Coast resident.

Gibbe, who played at St. Paul’s and won a state championship as a player in 1999, also recently served as Mick Nunez’s top assistant and was on the staff of the St. Paul’s team that won the 2019 state championship.

De La Salle has started the search for a new head coach.
