Comparisons to Lionel Messi are ‘disrespect’ for Cristiano Ronaldo, claims former Manchester United team-mate

For years, Lionel Messi And Cristiano Ronaldo have been synonymous with each other. It’s difficult to sum up the achievements of just one of these players when there are two bona fide greatest players of all time playing in the same era. However, there are times when people go too far when comparing the two icons, with many tearing one down to elevate the other!

Well, it seems former Manchester United star Tomasz Kuszczak has run out of fans comparing the two players. Kuszczak told in an interview with DAZN how disrespectful it is, how fans constantly weigh the performance of Cristiano Ronaldo against Lionel Messi.

The ex-United star claimed: “I do think that Cristiano Ronaldo is not respected. There is a lot of talk about who is better between him and Lionel Messi. I had the opportunity to train and play with him for a few years. He has proven everything in football, wherever he has been.”

Kuszczak then added: “He has always been effective and has shown that he can be a leader. He deserves 100% respect, but it’s hard to say what he is like now because the Saudi Pro League is not a top league. But Ronaldo is Ronaldo. He has been great for his country over the years.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has been crucial to Portugal’s success in recent months. The veteran emerged as the team’s top scorer during the EURO qualifiers and helped them reach the main stage of the tournament. With Portugal looking to win the European title, their success could depend on Cristiano’s performance.

He also added: “Being the Portuguese team at the tournament, he will give you an extra spark, even though he is reaching an age where he might start talking about retirement, but look what he looks like now. Being back in the spotlight of European football will be a huge motivation for him.”
