UFC: Merab Dvalishvili looks at Sean O’Malley’s title and says: ‘I’m going to knock him out Mexican style’

UFC No. 1 bantamweight fighter Merab Dvalishvili explained how he plans to knock out current division champion Sean O’Malley. The fight between Dvalishvili and O’Mailey has been going on for a while now, with the former becoming increasingly eager with his plans to finally get his hands on the division belt. Ever since O’Mailey, popularly known as Sugar, defeated Dvalishvili’s friend and training partner Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292, expectations for a redemption fight between the two have been sky high. The two have often engaged in name-calling and smearing each other, with O’Mailey finally giving his approval for the fight in his recent comments.

After his recent victory against Marlon Vera at UFC 299, which was also the only loss of his career, the stage was finally set for a title fight between O’Mailey and Dvalishvili. The Georgian, who is currently on a 10-match winning streak since his last defeat to Ricky Simon, believes his wrestling skills and tenacity will be enough to get the best out of O’Mailey in the octagon.

After much facial expressions and constant calls on social media from Dvalishvili, O’Mailey finally responded to the floating rumors of the fight by confirming his intentions on his podcast, The Timbo Sugar show. The American fighter’s comments caused a stir among the fan bases of both Dvalishvili and O’Mailey, especially due to the latter’s use of certain names for his potential opponent.

“Merab is next,” O’Malley said. “Merab is next. Your wish will be granted,” O’Mailey said.

During a recent press interaction on Sony Sports, the Georgian reflected on how he plans to get his hands on the division belt, and that too in an emphatic style. Dvalishvili, popularly known as ‘The Machine’, has special plans for his opponent, which revolve around the ultimate fate of this highly anticipated fight.

“This is good, he finally said my name and now we’re going to fight. Because I’ve been calling him for six years, and he’s been ignoring me, avoiding me, and now that he finally wants to fight me, it feels good. We can talk, we can make fun of each other, he can make fun of my nose, but if I am going to beat him, I will be the winner, his belts and his followers, everything,” said Merab.

“I want to make him tired and then I want to knock him out the Mexican way, you know, boxing. I want to show the world that my boxing is good too by knocking this guy out and making my Mexican people proud make,” Merab added.

With the two fighters going into full aggressive gear when it comes to talking about their potential fight, it is certain that the clash has the potential to be an end-to-end thriller.
