Youths caught on camera attacking Blantyre museum by ‘stealing a trolley’ and climbing the fence

David Livingstone’s hometown has launched an appeal after garden trolleys were stolen from the property last Thursday (May 2).

The centre, located on Station Road in Blantyre, posted CCTV footage on their Facebook page showing three people making off with the equipment.

Volunteers use the carts to perform a variety of tasks in the park, including emptying the trash cans and tending the garden.

The message read: “As you know, our beautiful park is maintained entirely by volunteers and we are so proud of how great it looks all year round.

“On Thursday evening, three young boys climbed over the staff car park fence and stole our garden carts. These are not cheap and the gardeners use them every day.

“Can you please help us get them back?”

“We have full CCTV footage of the boys that we can pass on to police, but we will wait in the hope that they will be returned today as it is a school holiday.”

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
