Greg Kerkvliet returns to Penn State Wrestling for his final season of eligibility

Reigning NCAA heavyweight champion Greg Kerkvliet will return to Penn State wrestling in 2024-2025 for his sixth and final season of eligibility, he announced on Instagram Wednesday evening.

“Let’s continue!” Kerkvliet wrote under an image announcing his return.

Kerkvliet, a four-time All-American, went 20-0 last season en route to his first individual Big Ten and NCAA titles in March. During the year he recorded two pins, four tech falls and eight majors as a team leader.

After the season, Kerkvliet was a finalist for the Dan Hodge Trophy, which was won by fellow Nittany Lion Aaron Brooks.

During his career, Kerkvliet has a record of 79-10, including second-place finishes at the 2023 Big Ten and NCAA Championships

Kerkvliet is one of three Nittany Lions to announce their return for one final season, joining the NCAA’s runner-up ranks Beau Bartlett and four-time national champion Carter Starocci.

The Nittany Lions will look to win their fourth straight team title in 2024-2025. Penn State had eight All-Americans, six finalists and four champions while setting the team points record at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
