One goal will decide the match between two top teams in Tipperary football

Peake Villa 1 St Michael’s 0

There was a big crowd at the Tower Grounds in Thurles last Saturday evening for the final league game of the season for both sides, even if it was not a title-deciding match as many had hoped, between the two best sides in Tipperary football. .

It was a very competitive league match played at a high pace and Villa started well. He joined the champions from the start and put them under a lot of pressure.

They came close in the twelfth minute through Ronan McGuire, but he was denied with an excellent save.

They broke the deadlock ten minutes later when captain Pippy Carroll scored from close range to level the score.
Both teams had attempts in the run-up to half-time, but the score remained 1-0 at half-time.

The Saints hoped to go through the season undefeated and came out with real purpose in the second half.

However, Villa defenders Evan McCormack and Sean Condron were in top form as they kept the visitors at bay.

Michel Quinlan had a fine game in midfield and Dale Loughnane hurt the visitors with his runs down the flank.

In the end, there were no more goals as one champion handed the crown to the other.

There is no doubt that both teams will be in the mix again next season.
