The Prime Minister published a notice saying cannabis would be remarketed as a narcotic by the end of the year.

The government’s Ministry of Health has drafted a bill that would only use cannabis for medicinal and health purposes.

In 2022, Thailand became one of the first countries in the region to decriminalize cannabis for medical purposes, but recreational use exploded in the absence of clear legal regulations.

Four squatters who had occupied a mansion in Bangkok for more than six years were each given a nine-month suspended prison sentence yesterday.

They were also fined 11,000 baht each, reduced from 20,000 after pleading guilty.

Thailand’s cabinet yesterday approved a proposal to extend visa waivers for passport holders from India and Taiwan. They are allowed to enter Thailand and stay for a maximum of 30 days.

Locally, residents in central parts of Hua hin have suffered several nights of severe air pollution, recently caused by a fire at a landfill near Tan-tai. Local authorities were called to extinguish the fire with water trucks, but their efforts were hampered by the warm weather.

The Malaysian government has been accused of hypocrisy in its pro-Palestinian stance after several defense companies supplying weapons to Israel were allowed to participate in a military exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. Several demonstrators gathered to protest outside the exhibition center.
