Pleasant Valley softball defeats Chico in regular season finale

The Pleasant Valley softball team scored 14 runs in the final four innings as the Vikings defeated Chico High 16-3 in both teams’ regular season finale Tuesday at Chico High School.

PV leadoff hitter Alissa Snipes led the Vikings, going 4-for-5 with three home runs and six RBIs as the Vikings outscored the Panthers 14 to seven. Bella Cox had three hits, including a triple, and Lily Thurman and Macy Galaxy each had two hits. Thurman and Maddie Swim each had two RBIs. Swim and Thurman both had home runs.

Ella Thurman pitched four innings and allowed four hits, one earned run, two walks and struck out four. Kody Aisthorpe pitched the final three innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs, walking three and striking out two.

For Chico, the Panthers scattered seven hits to seven different hitters. Olivia Murphy and Gioella Pennisi each hit one home run, Addi Hosier and Sophia Babler each hit a double.

Leah Cawthon pitched all seven innings for the Panthers, allowing 14 hits, 16 runs (nine earned), five walks and six strikeouts.

PV (21-4, 10-0 Eastern Athletic League), the No. 1 team in the EAL, and Chico (12-13-2, 4-6 EAL), the No. 4 team in the EAL, now await the placement meetings for the Northern Division play-offs.
