Medical Center in Bowling Green recognizes nurses during its annual awards ceremony

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Medical Center in Bowling Green hosted its annual Nursing Awards on Wednesday.

The event recognized some of the nurses as the best in the hospital and honored the work they do every day.

Katrina Wood, the Medical Center’s chief nursing officer, said: “To be able to say that at one year I was around 1,800 nurses, it really says something about the quality, dedication and professionalism of each individual nurse.

One award winner shared what inspired her to start the work she continues today.

Natalie Hopkins, the Medical Center’s 2024 Nurse of the Year, said: “When I was younger, I helped care for my aunts and grandparents. I enjoyed taking care of them, so I decided to go to school to become a nurse.”

Awards presented included Nurse of the Year, Nursing Rookie of the Year, The Faye White Nursing Leadership Award and The Clinical Support Staff of the Year.

If you want to show appreciation for a nurse in your life, National Nursing Week lasts until May 12.
