Gable Steveson’s surprising future prospects after WWE release

Gable Steveson has attracted interest from outside the wrestling world following his release from WWE.

Despite much fanfare when he signed a NIL deal with WWE in 2021, Gable Steveson only had one televised match in the company, taking on Baron Corbin at the 2023 edition of NXT Great American Bash. Since then, he has competed in a number of NXT live events and a handful of dark matches, but was absent from the company after his dark match against Cedric Alexander on February 9.

On May 4, news broke that Gable Steveson had been released from his WWE contract. The majority of this round of cuts was reported on May 3 and included Drew Gulak, Valentina Feroz and Boa.

Gable Steveson grateful for his time in WWE

Steveson was scheduled to be interviewed by Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour on May 8, but a scheduling conflict prevented him from participating in the show. The star’s agent, Dean Martin, sent the following statement to Helwani, saying Steveson is ready to compete again, wherever that may be. Helwani read out the statement and said:

“Gable Steveson is very grateful for the opportunities he received with WWE and would like to thank everyone in the organization who helped him along the way. He would also like to thank the fans who have supported him throughout his professional wrestling journey. Now, Gable is ready to resume battling elite-level competition and looks forward to sharing big news with all of you soon.

“Multiple NFL teams have contacted Gable Steveson. He also trained at Kill Cliff FC with Henri Hooft and Robbie Lawler. There is no shortage of opportunities to compete.”
