San Diego Mojo Punches Postseason Ticket

San Diego is heading to the postseason! The Mojo secured the fourth and final spot in the Pro Volleyball Federation Championship after a four-set win over the Columbus Fury at Viejas Arena on Tuesday night. After starting the season 1-5, San Diego has won 10 of its last 16 games.


The win moved San Diego back to third place in the standings with two games remaining. The Mojo can secure the third seed in the playoffs with a win in either of the final two games or a loss to the Grand Rapids Rise in their regular season finale against the Omaha Supernovas on May 12.

The first Pro Volleyball Federation Championship will be held May 15-18 at the CHI Health Center in Omaha. San Diego is one of four teams that will compete for its first title in the nation’s top professional volleyball league and a $1 million player bonus. The other teams include top-seeded Atlanta Vibe, second-seeded Omaha and Grand Rapids. Fans can buy tickets for the two semi-finals via this link. Temi Thomas-Ailara led the Mojo scoring effort against Columbus with a match-high 20 kills and also added 12 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. Lindsey Vander Weide had 17 kills on 39 swings (.435), and Ali Bastienalli scored 10 points with five kills, two service aces and three blocks. Nootsara Tomkom had a match-high 50 assists with 10 digs, while Ronika Stone had nine kills and three blocks.

The Mojo hit the road for the final two games of the regular season, playing the Valkyries on Thursday, May 9 in Orlando before wrapping up the regular season in Columbus on Saturday, May 11.
